Amite Plan Unveiled At City Council Meeting

City Council members were treated to a sneak peek of Amite's Downtown District Revitalization Plan on March 23rd as planning consultant Dana Brown, of Brown+Danos Landdesign Inc. , previewed the draft plan to renew Amite's Downtown District. Home to the Amite Oyster Festival and Tangipahoa Parish Fair, Amite City offers citizens the amenities of a large city while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of rural life.

West 30s Concept Plan Revealed

On March 22, the Walker Collaborative previewed the "Concept Plan" for the West 30s Revitalization Plan in Covington. Since November, the citizens of the West 30s have been meeting with planning consultants and sharing their ideas for a revitalized West 30s Neighborhood.   After several large public gatherings, a 5-day intensive planning charrette, two community surveys, and numerous  face to face interviews with stakeholder groups and neighborhood leaders; planners have assembled what they have learned from the West 30s citizens and shared this “Concept Plan” with the community.

Working with leaders across the region, the Northshore Community Foundation created a branding and marketing strategy to grow the economy of parishes lining the I-10 and I-12. These parishes were chosen because they are growing faster than the nation. A marketing campaign based on the strategy should be launched within a year.
